Q Severe cramps during pregnancy especially in upper thigh!!
It is normal to feel cramps in upper portion of thigh, during pregnancy. Specially if you are in late second or in third trimester. This is generally due to the weight of uterus exerted on muscles and nerves of thigh. Also hitting by a baby can give you mild cramps in lower abdomen and in thigh. Sometimes there can be deficiency or excess of some dietary factors or it can be due to dehydration. The best thing to alleviate the pain is, have well balanced diet, containing all the essential nutrients, keep yourself well hydrated, you can try elevation of limbs by taking pillow or something to keep them high while sleeping, gentle massage to the affected muscle will help. Generally it is normal to experience vague muscle pains and aches throughout the pregnancy. Many a times, this is very normal and there is nothing to worry about it.
