Q Hi, I have a small growth (about an inch length) under one of the balls under the penis. It is not growing for the last 4-5 months which i can feel by touching. There is no pain, but it is constant there. I am worried whether it will lead to hernia or any other bigger problems in future. Please advise what should i do next? I am located in Bangalore, near Indiranagar. regards, Sunil
Hello Sunil, the growth under testicle may be hydrocele. This is a collection of sterile fluid in the cord attached to the testicle. This is invariably harmless. Left untreated, a hydrocele can grow to a large size and cause discomfort. A vericocele is other condition in which blood vessels are involved and require surgical removal in severe cases. The skin of the scrotum is usually rough and creased. Small, cauliflower-like, raised lumps on this skin may be warts. These are tiny, smooth bumps like structures. Some times these are present on shaft of penis too, known as genital warts. These are the infections of skin caused due to HPV (Human Pappiloma Virus). Mostly these are seen in sexually transmitted diseases. The condition may not be related to hernia or other possibilities like torsion, injury, malignancy as pain is absent. If these are warts, this will not lead to hernia, it has different causes. You need to consult your physician for diagnosis and treatment.
