Q Is it ok for a diabetic to eat 2 bowls of alpen? Is it ok for a diabetic to eat 2 bowls of alpen & have fruit during the day if needed & cut back on food at dinner time for weight loss?
Kindly note that, the Alpen is a made of Wholegrain Wheat (37%), Wholegrain Rolled Oats (34%), Raisins (12.5%), Sugar, Dried Skimmed Milk, Milk Whey Powder, Roasted Sliced Nuts (2.5%) (Almonds & Hazelnuts), Malted Barley Extract, Salt. It is a rich source of fibres required for the weight loss. You can take only a cup of it per day, if you are diabetic. And, remember, some fruits do contain more sugar than others, but that doesnt mean you shouldnt eat them if you have diabetes. The serving should not exceed 15 grams of carbohydrates, which will maintain your sugar level. You can take 1/2 medium banana, 1/2 cup (83 grams) cubed mango, 1 1/4 cup (190 grams) cubed watermelon, 1 1/4 cup (180 grams) whole strawberries etc. For weight loss, do exercise for about 30-45 min a day like walking, cycling or swimming. Take frequent meals instead of the traditional 3 meals. Dont cut your food in the dinner, which will cause hypoglycemia in the night.
