Q Doctor, I am a type 1 diabetic for the last 5 years. I am on insulin pump and my blood sugars are under good control. However off late i am having a poor memory. I tend to forget things very easily and this puts tremendous pressure on my professional and personal life. I would like to know if i can take some choline substitue to better this situation?
Choline is used to build up memory, its deficiency can cause memory loss. This is what research says, and Choline and its use is still under research. You can take choline substitute but after consulting your Diabetologist. You can also have Choline from your diet. If you eat non-veg then Egg, Chicken, Shrimp are good source and if you are vegetarian then Collard Greens, Swiss Chard, Cauliflower are the good sources of Choline. Taking Choline substitute has some side effects.
