My friends father had a heart attack on last friday. The doctor has taken some reports and says will do the angiogram on tuesday to confirm how to proceed further. I am a little skeptical about this. Can the echo report confirm exactly what is the amount?????
No echo-cardiogram cannot tell you the amount of blockage. It can tell you the size and shape of the heart, its pumping capacity, location and the extent of tissue damage. It can calculate cardiac output, ejaculation fraction and the diastolic function. An angiogram can show narrowing and blockage in the blood vessel. It can show if coronary disease is present or not and how bad it is. So what your doctor has suggested is right.

Im a 30 yr old male, i been travelling a lot of late and this caused me severe pain in the back and numbness in the leg.I consulted a neurologist who suggested an MRI scan. The report is 1.L3-L4 mild circumferential disc bulge with mild indentation over thecal sac with moderate sparing of CSF column with sparing or bilateral lateral recess & neural foramina. 2.L4-L5 mild circumferential disc bulge with moderate indentation over thecal sac with mild sparing of CSF column with sparing or bilateral lateral recess &neural foramina. 3.L5-S1 diffuse disc dessication changes with broad based posterior disc extrusion causing thecal sac indentation & loss of CSF column with narrowing of bilateral neural foramina(left>right). My height is 6.2 and weight is 80. Please help me with the answer soon. Is it something serious and what treatment would be done and how long would it take for the recovery and what are the things that i need to be careful from here on. Thank you.
Based on your MRI report the condition is mild to moderate at this stage. But if ignored can turn into something serious. Your symptoms are due to the pressure on the nerves due to disc bulges form L3-L5 and disc dessication at L5-S1. Treatment options for such condition includes use of pain killer to manage pain, physiotherapy to strengthen your back muscle so that further damage is prevented and surgery as last resort. Avoid lifting heavy weight, abnormal sitting posture or anything that can put pressure over your back. Use lumbar belts. The changes that has taken place in your spinal column can not be reversed but with proper care they can be prevented from progressing further. Lifestyle modification, weight reduction, exercise under medical supervision will help you.

I am suffring from frequent bowel movement. taken normaxin rt but not working still have frequent stool problem
Some of the common causes are stomach infection, having contaminated food or drinking contaminated water, side effect of medication, inflammation of the intestinal tract, etc. If your frequent bowel movement is not associated with complaint like fever, pain in abdomen, passing of blood in stool or extremely offensive stool than there is nothing to worry about. In most cases it is self limiting and resolves on its own. Normaxin Rt is prescribed in cases of peptic ulcer. It is advisable that you consult your family doctor before taking any medication.

What can these symptoms suggest:- chest pains, discomfort, dizziness, and back and jaw pains. Any Help!? Its adding so much anxiety to me and I am not sure what I can do to feel better and not get as anxious. Please guide for further steps. Fast.
Symptoms that you have mentioned are suggestive of heart disease. However without a thorough examination coming to a final conclusion is difficult. My advice would be that you ask your family member to take you to the emergency room where the doctor will examine you, take an ECG and guide you further accordingly.

I am 22 years old, I have been having sharp/dull/achy chest pains for 3 days. They come off and on, as quickly as they come they quickly go away. I went to the ER and they did a EKG and it came back fine. The doc said it might be bad heartburn
Pain in region of chest can be due to several causes other than heart diseases, such as - muscular pain, pain due to lung disorder, pain due to trauma or injury or even due to hyperacidity. Now since your EKG report is normal there is nothing to worry about. However if the pain persist, consult a physician who after through examination can rule out other causes and prescribe you accordingly.

I am having chest pains every day multiple times. Should I be worried? I am 17 years old. They hurt a lot and last from 20 to 45 seconds. I cant move or do anything or it ll hurt.
Having chest pain multiple times may be something you should take it seriously, whatever is the cause. It is advised to consult the physician as early as you can, to rule out the cause. Some of the causes for repeated chest pain include- muscular pain, any injury or trauma, heart burn etc. It is less common to have any underlying heart disease at this age but, the probability is there.
Q
For the past year now, I have been getting sharp chest pains. Sometimes it feels like I am about to have a heart attack. I find it painful to breathe for the couple of seconds when it happens. The sharp pains occur mostly in the lung/heart area. However, I have also felt them in the lower chest area as well. I dont know what is causing this.
Chest pain can be due to variety of reason ranging from simple hyperacidity to something serious like heart disease. The cause of pain can be evaluated on the basis of type of pain, its location, severity and symptoms associated with it. The information provided by you is not sufficient to pinpoint the cause. It is important to find out the cause to get the best possible treatment. You must consult a physician and get the tests done, required to rule out the possibilities related to heart pathology.
