Q Hello Sir, My name is Siva Prasad , I am 23 years old sir. Currently I am staying in Mathikere(bangalore). One and Half year Back : (at the age of 22) I got severe malaria fever and my platelet count was decreased. At that time I was first diagnosed with DIABETES. That time my HbA1C result was 4. At that time my doctor did some test which costs 7000 rupees and told me that my diabetes is TYPE-2. He suggested ReclideMR tablets, I took them for 6 months and later I stopped them because my blood sugar levels are in normal (less than 120 in all conditions). Now the problem is I lost over 13 Kgs of weight sir. I want to gain weight. Recently I underwent sugar test (fasting : 70, PostPandrial: 110) and HbA1C (result : 6.9). Please suggest me some good way to improve my weight sir... I want to consult you personally in Ramaiah hospital sir. Please suggest me some way sir. Thank you.waiting for your suggestion sir.
First of all I have a doubt - Why your doctor said you have diabetes when your HbA1c was 4%. Even now you have a normal sugar levels. However now your HbA1c is in the diabetic range but my advice would be that you do the test again to confirm it. For weight gain: Make up a diet chart to ensure that you consume more calories than what you burn. - The idea isnt to eat everything that comes your way, but to eat wisely. Consume healthy foods but frequently — say three small meals and three large ones. Make sure you keep a gap of at least three hours between each meal so you can digest them properly. Start your day with a healthy breakfast comprising a glass of milk and a banana or a banana milkshake, whole-grain toast, a fruit and some nuts. Stick to wholegrain bread, green leafy vegetables, paneer, a chicken or fish dish, rice and dal for lunch. Eat dinner comprising of the same things albeit two hours before you hit the sack. Avoid fast foods like burgers, doughnuts and fried things. Regularly do some exercise. Ask a fitness trainer to give you some weight gaining exercises. Consult a dietitian to help you make a diet chart as per your calorie needs.
