Q What is stress and tension?
Stress encompasses anything that poses a challenge or a threat to ones well-being. Some level of stress is normal and imminent in everyones life in order to get things done. This is known as eustress or positive stress. The word stress however usually implies negative stress. Stress can have several undesirable effects on the mind as well as body. The effects of stress include mental symptoms like anger, fear, depression etc and physical symptoms like insomnia, eating disorders, aches and pains etc to name a few. A stressor is an agent or stimulus that causes stress. Generally, the stressors one is exposed to, the more stressed he feels. Counselling, support from loved ones, yoga, meditation, pets etc are all stress busters.
