Q What special food can a hypertensive patient eat?
These days everyone needs to switch over to a healthier diet, more so when you are hypertensive. Increase the intake of whole grains, fruits, vegetables, leafy vegetables, low fat dairy products in diet. Eat protein rich substances like fish, egg whites, poultry products, and nuts. Try adding ground flax seed, pumpkin seeds, watermelon seeds, muskmelon seeds etc to your diet. You must limit the intake of salt as far as possible. So no pickles, chips, canned food, salty cheese etc. Do not use table salt. Avoid foods that are high in saturated fats such as fast food, fried food, mayonnaise, desserts etc. So basically, all natural food and fresh produce can be consumed without a second thought. The more processed a foodstuff is, the farther you should stay from it.
