Q Hi Doctor, I am 18 years old, weigh 47 kg and am 510.For the past 75 days or so a I am experiencing breathing discomfort.I sort of make a hufffffff sound every time I inhale out and also my lower back hurts slighly(feel uncomfortable) when I bend down or do some other related activities.I consulted a pulmonologist who told me after performing a lung function test that the results are normal and I dont have any particular problem and that the breathing discomfort may be due to stress.please share your opinion in this regard.
As you have gone through the examination by pulmonologist you need not worry. There are many causes of breathing problems. Some people have difficulty breathing when they get a cold. These common breathing problems include chronic sinusitis, allergies, and asthma. The problems may cause you; symptoms such as nasal congestion, runny nose, itchy or watery eyes, chest congestion, cough, wheezing, labored breathing, and shallow breathing. Assuming that the other related symptoms are not present in your case, anxiety may be the cause for your dyspnoea. Anxiety causes a variety of physical symptoms that can be frightening. These, in turn, cause more anxiety, which ultimately leads to more physical symptoms. Anxiety increases the lung and heart function, causing breathlessness. So as your doctor told you anxiety or stress may have caused you this and will be relieved by time. This may be due to over-ventilation too. Getting excessive air may cause you difficulty in breathing. Yoga and meditation under expert guidance may find a good solution for you.
