Q I always had a not very regular bowel movement. I have been suffering from flatulence and belching constantly for the past 3 years. I never ever had problems regarding this before 3 years. But I have stopped playing and exercising, am in a stressful job, have 6-8 hours sleep and eat fries of some sort or the other more often than not (especially with drinks). When the condition worsened, I took domperidone pantoprazole capsules (as advised by my GP)for over a month and problem subsided for a few months but resurfaced again. I smoke (< 10 cigarettes a day) and drink (almost alternate day) and binge/more than 3 large pegs max once or twice a month. Did a ultrasound 1 year ago and everything was normal. Planning to restart physical exercises for now but constant belching is an embarrassment, gas after afternoon meal is making me lose productivity, sleeping less causes more gas and my constipation problem that was gone has resurfaced. I also find that perhaps I am not able to digest fried flour items easily. Please help!
Change in your current lifestyle is the key to all your sufferings. Restart your exercise schedule as early as possible. It will relieve reduce your digestion problem. Instead of fries switch over to non-salted and non-sugar coated nuts like almonds and walnuts. They are the sources of healthy fats. Include more of whole grain foods, fresh fruits and green veggies so that you get enough of fiber. This will help you with constipation. Cut down on your smoking and alcohol intake. Try to have a 7-9 hours sleep on regular basis. Include meditation and yoga exercises in your routine. They are very good in relieving physical as well as mental stress.
