Q Hello doctor. I am a 25 year old male. My history is such that I have been overweight since childhood, and for the last 5-6 years , i have been doing regular strenuous exercise to loose weight, to no effect. Instead i gain weight and fat. Although as of now im stable at 98 kg, and my height is 5 feet 8 inches, im unable to go below this. I have already checked for hyper/hypo- thyroidism , however im free of it. Some people have told me to check my estrogen levels, since I have fat accumulated near my chest and waist, which looks like male boobs. Please help me out as to what may be the problem with me, as i am not loosing any weight since a long time, even after strenuous exercise and a proper balanced diet.
When it comes to losing weight, a good well balanced diet and regular exercise schedule always give results. You have to make sure that your diet is planned in such a way that your daily calorie intake is less than your calorie expenditure. Also your exercise plan should be a combination of both weight training and cardio exercise to give you maximum benefit. There is no harm in getting your hormones levels checked since you have excess fat over the chest area.
