Q What should I do to prevent frequent stomach pains after eating. I suffer from this often. The pain is moderate and i can tolerate it but want to avoid it completely.
Pain immediately after eating can be due to several causes. Such as eating hurriedly, peptic ulcer, gastroenteritis, gall stones, heart burn, lactose or gluten intolerance, etc. For definite treatment, the underlying cause needs to be know. A detailed medical history, physical examination and investigations will be required to find the exact cause. Try and make following changes to see if pain subsides or not: Chew your food slowly and thoroughly. Instead of three large meals have 5-7 small meals. Avoid any know food allergens. Replace wheat flour with rice, jowar, amaranth or peral millet flour. Avoid dairy products for few days. If the pain persists even after following all these things, you should visit your health care provider.
