Q I am a 45 years old man, weigh 96 kg and am 172 cm tall. For the last one month, i have severe acidity problem due to which i am unable to sleep at night. I experienced chest pain and irritation in the food pipe. I used to go for night walk daily for an hour or so but due to uneasiness and tiredness after work, i have left it. I have consulted a doctor who has prescribed these medicines - parit, rantac, beplex forte and unienzyme. Am i on the right medications? Is there any permanent cure to acidity?
Has your acidity problem suddenly started or is there any reason for it?. Acidity can be because of : stress, sudden dietary changes, hyperactive gastro-esophageal reflux, frequent eating of spicy and oily food, over eating etc. Of course these medicines will reduce your acidity for time being, but you need to maintain dietary restrictions. Please tell me what all you eat in your diet, so that I can guide you with more details. However I am suggesting few tips to you: Advisable food : Vegetables(like beans, peas, cabbage), egg white, apple, banana, whole grain, skimmed milk. Food which should be avoided are: Spicy food, citrus fruits, alcohol, fried food, tea and coffee.
