Prolonged periods in medical term is known as Menorrhagia. The drug prescribed by your doctor has not possibly caused you this. Causes of abnormal bleeding in your cases are: PCOS, hormonal imbalance, dysfunctional ovaries, uterine fibroids, polyps etc. The treatment for this depends on the cause, so you need to find out the cause of menorrhagia with help of your doctor. Hormonal medication and intra-uterine device can help stop bleeding in case of menorrhagia. Your gynecologist can tell you which treatment option will suit you best.
