Q When I was about 8 years old I slipped on wet concrete and fell on my tailbone. It has been causing me problems ever since. It makes it hard to bend so that I can sit down and it hurts when I get up from sitting. When it hurts the pain runs down my right leg and it is like a burning pain. Its not unbearable because I am used to it but its irritating
What you describe is called as coccycodynia. The pain that you get is due to the pressure on the coccyx when you bend or sit. The reason for the pain radiating to your leg is the involvement of the nerves in that area. The treatment is usually symptomatic involving the use of analgesics, heating pads, avoiding siting long in one position, using a soft cushion while sitting etc. You can also go for local nerve block procedure to relieve your pain.
