Q My age 30. I have been smoking cigarettes from 10 years. I want to quit this habit now. I am smoking 1 to 2 packs per day now. If i quit smoking completely and immediately will it affect my heart or not. or else can you advice me to reduce cigarettes consumption and then quit this habit with out heart risk.
Continuing to smoke is much more risky for the heart rather than quitting them. Set a quit date. Tell family, friends, and co-workers that you plan to quit. Anticipate and plan for the challenges youll face while quitting. Remove cigarettes and other tobacco products from your home, car, and work. Dont quit at one shot. Slowly reduce the frequency. Once you stop smoking, you may experience feelings of dizziness, restlessness and have intense headaches as you are lacking an immediate sugar release that you once derived from nicotine. An increase in your appetite may also be one of the side effects of quitting smoking. These cravings for sugar generally last for a few days as long as the body adjusts to a nicotine-free existence. Hence it is advisable to maintain your bodys sugar levels a tad higher than usual by drinking a lot of juices. This will prevent craving symptoms and allow your body to gradually re-adjust to normal. You can also take help of nicotine patches or chewing gum.
