Q I had done a routine urine analysis and stool test , the results are, urine - dipstick: color-straw yellow, ph = 6.0 , urine - microsopic : pus cell hpf = occasional epi cell hpf = occasional others were normal.. stool test: mucus = present occult blood = positive. I want to know pus and epithelial cell is occasional in urine test, is that normal?
Presence of occasional pus cells in the urine is considered normal (0-5). Contamination of the urine sample can cause occasional epithelial cells. However, if a second sample of urine also shows epithelial cells, then further investigation is required to find out the cause. Occult blood in stool can be caused by disorders related to intestine or ano-rectal region and needs to be evaluated. Please visit a physician for further management.
