Q Every time i even drink one beer i get neck pain and headaches and i seen online that liver functions and diabetes can play a factor possibly and ive had abnormal liver functions before but it made me think and i have a blood sugar testing meter so i tested myself and my blood sugar was different everytime, all testing was doing around the same time. Im wondering if the 57 could have been a mistake its a brand new meter and new strips diabetes does run in the family im just wondering how accurate these things are so i know whether to discard it or not?
These meters are used to measure blood glucose level in people having diabetes mellitus and hypoglycemia mostly. Factors affecting accuracy of various meters include calibration of meter, ambient temperature, pressure use to wipe off blood glucose strip , size and quality of blood sample, high levels of certain substances (such as ascorbic acid) in blood, hematocrit, dirt on meter, humidity and aging of test strips. Strips that go in blood glucose numbers usually need to be coded so that numbers on the strip match the number that appears on the meter, otherwise, the exact accuracy of the blood glucose meter may out. Error grids are used to detect error in the meter. Kinldy ge your blood checked in a laboratory and then compare with the count on meter. The accuracy factor may differ by up to 20 % sometimes.
