Q my hba1c is 7% after 3 months use of mixtard 30/70. how do u see it? how to manage postprandial sugar levels more effectively?
HBA1c in range of 6.5 to 7 indicates good control and 7.1 to 8 indicates fair control, on insulin. Small frequent meals is the key to have effective control over postprandial glucose. Do not eat a large meal at one time; rather divide it into 2-3 small meals, which will prevent the post-meal rise of blood sugar. Add mixed, unsalted, raw nuts like almonds, peanuts, or pistachios to diet. When taken with high glycemic index carbohydrates like bread, mashed potatoes etc, they reduce the postprandial glucose. Add these to diet after talking to your doctor. Weight management and eating a well-balanced diet are important. A minimum of 30 minutes of walk daily is very essential.
