Q My daughter has been diagnosed with sinusitis and has gross dns. Her age is 13 yrs. She is continuing with the advised medication. However, i would like her recent ct scan to be re-evaluated. I can send previous reports also.
The sinuses are air-filled spaces in the skull. They are located behind the forehead, nasal bones, cheeks, and eyes. In normal condition these space does not contain bacteria. When the sinus openings become blocked or too much mucus builds up, then these conditions are prone for bacteria formation. Here cause for the condition is most probably DNS. For sure I would like to study her reports along with detailed history of past illness, duration and frequency of complaints, symptoms experienced by her and treatment which she is taking. I also suggest you provide information about her other complaints. Meanwhile I can advise few tips for your daughter: Drink plenty of fluids, this will act as thinner on the mucus, spray nasal saline several times a day, inhale steam 2-3 times a day which will help to reduce congestion. Avoid flying when she is congested as extreme pressure may worsen the case, avoid extreme temperature. Best way to prevent attacks of sinusitis is to prevent cold, for that avoid smoke and pollutants, use humidifiers, stay hydrated, treat allergies quickly. Always remember, prevention is always better than cure!!
