Q Since i had a gynaecological operation, my vaginal muscles have been rather slack. I know that there are exercises to help tighten up these muscles, but i am not sure what they are. Please help me as this is now causing problems with my husband.
Hello. Vagina is a canal made up of walls of elastic smooth muscles. When these muscles get overstretched, they lose their elasticity and hence vagina become loose. There are some exercises that a female can do to restore the elasticity: 1. Hold your breath for few seconds and contract the muscles in your vagina while doing so, then release as you exhale. Do this at least 10 times a day. You can try it by inserting a finger inside vagina, and trying to grip it by vaginal walls. 2. Kegels exercise: When you urinate, simply stop your urine in midstream by controlling your pelvic muscles.Try to aim four seconds pause then continue. Do this few times every time you urinate to get proper idea about the muscles to be used in Kegels exercise. Once you identify these muscles, contract them for 3-5 seconds and for 3-5 sec. Repeat it for 10-15 times in one set. You should do at least 3 sets a day. Regular exercises will certainly help to relieve your problem.
