Q Whats best treatment for translucent teeth? And will bleaching hurt them?
The cause for translucent teeth is erosion or thinning of the outer layer of teeth (enamel). Unfortunately, the enamel once damaged, cannot be repaired or regenerated by our body. Preventive measure to avoid further damage are more important, as you can not reverse the condition. You can follow the preventive measures like: using medium soft toothbrush, avoid brushing immediately after having acidic drinks, do not hold acid drinks, fruit juices or carbonated drinks for long time in your mouth, better to use straws facing for most drinks, choose a toothpaste which is non-acidic and with plenty of fluoride and mineral availability, have regular dental check ups with your dentist. Bleaching is usually done for discoloured teeth (yellow, brownish etc) and may not really help you since your teeth are translucent.
