Q Expansile lytic lesion is seen involving base of 2nd metcarpal bone with surrounding soft tissue component appearing hyperintense on t2 weighted images while appear hypointense on t1 sequences. There is evidence of fluid-fluid level. The approx size of mass lesion is 20mmx28mmx19mm. What is treatment of above report.
As noted the lesions may be result of hypercalcemia. The report suggests the lesions may be bone cyst, fibroma, cell tumour. This may be due to infection as fluid content is present. The mass lesion needs oral medication first so as to control the infection. The lesion has to be evaluated by an orthopedician. Surgical removal of the mass lesion can be performed on the basis of factors like general health, response of the patient to antibiotics. The treatment also depends when the possibiity of malignancy is ruled out.
