Q Why some pregnant women have fear of childbirth?
Childbirth is a painful experience that every woman who undergo with normal delivery, has to pass with. If she is giving birth for the first time, waiting for unknown pain worries her beyond all measures and they are plunged into an indescribable state of anxiety. If she is already a mother, they are terrified by the memory of the past and the prospect of the future. But for some this can be a point to get stressed. These females may be of an anxious nature, or may have heard exaggerated stories from others, or may be more sensitive towards pain, or if the fear is very overwhelming, it can be a psychological disorder. Medically this fear for childbirth or labour pains is termed as Tokophobia. This condition can be handled well with proper counselling, relaxation methods, and familial support.
