Q Dear doctor: i am very weak boy, my body looks like a skeleton. My diet is good but still i am not able to put on weight. Please tell me what is the cause and what can i do?
We understand your concern about your weight and weakness. There are many reasons why people dont gain weight which include poor eating habits, depression, illness or infection, poor ability of the body to absorb nutrition, excess use of alcohol or recreational drugs and many others, but may be also just because you have those genetic genes to be slender. If you are not absorbing to the max then you wont be getting the maximum benefit from the food you eat. Absorption can be affected by many factors like: smoking, drinking coffee, drinking alcohol, eating fast food, eating processed food, stress, drinking Fizzy drinks, etc. Try to avoid these factors. I can advise you few tips: start exercising, eat 5 to 6 meals a day after every 3 hours. Be selective in your diet. If you only intend to gain weight and eat junk than purpose of being strong will not be solved. There can be some other medical reasons also which need to be rule out like thyroid dysfunction, metabolic disorder, severe worm infestation etc. Kindly do few investigations on this advised by your family doctor and get back to us for more precise information.
