Q I am a heart patient. I had a an attack in 2008, and had undergone angioplasty with two stent. From that day, I am using some medicines like ecospirin, metolar xl...etc which is prescribed bu my doctor. Today, again I went for regular checkup and my doctor changed some medicine. He gave stanlip, olmark, metocard xl, clopigrel and he removed ecospirin. And I have heard that ecospirin should be consumed lifelong. So, is it ok to stop ecospirin(75)?
Clopigrel is a substitute to Ecosprin. Ecosprin is used to help prevent heart attacks, strokes, and blood clot formation in people at high risk for developing blood clots. Clopigrel is an antiplatelet agent used to inhibit blood clots in coronary artery disease, peripheral vascular disease, and cerebrovascular disease. In general, both work at preventing further cardiovascular problems. Please follow your doctors guidelines.
